Volunteering
Youth A.I.D - Lewisham have been awarded funding from the v (youth volunteering) (for more information on v go to www.wearev.com) to increase the volunteering opportunities open to young people aged 16-25.
The programme builds on the achievements of our long established Young Leadership Programme 'learning and growing by doing'.
We acknowledge that volunteering is a dynamic catalyst in the social, cultural, educational, and economic development of young people. Volunteering is a much underused resource in the lives of young people locally and nationally - we intend to make a difference to this picture.
We see volunteering as playing an important role in providing three of the Every Child Matters 5 Outcomes for young people:- Enjoying & Achieving - getting the most out of life and developing skills
- Making a positive contribution - to their community and society
- Economic Wellbeing - the experience of volunteering is an excellent preparation for education and employment.
